Cloud & DevOps

Cloud migration services and DevOps consulting

We move applications to AWS, Azure or Google Cloud and set up the DevOps work around them: CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, containers and monitoring. Our cloud migration services are planned around your uptime, your data and your budget, by the team behind more than 85 software projects in five countries.

Details

What our cloud and DevOps work includes

We assess what you run today, migrate it, automate how it is built and deployed, and hand over the documentation. You own every cloud account and every line of infrastructure code.

How we work

  1. 01

    Discovery

We learn your goals, users and constraints and agree the scope.

  2. 02

    Design

Flows, prototypes and the interface, tested before we build.

  3. 03

    Build

Two-week sprints with a working version to review each time.

  4. 04

    Launch

Testing, security checks and a release without surprises.

  5. 05

    Support

Monitoring, updates and new features at an agreed pace.

When a cloud migration makes sense

A move to the cloud is a means, not a goal. It is worth the effort when the way your software is hosted holds the business back. The signs we see most often:

  • Servers or hosting contracts reach end of life, and renewing means buying hardware again
  • Traffic peaks slow the system down, while the rest of the time capacity sits idle
  • Deployments are manual, risky and depend on one person who knows the steps
  • Backups exist, but nobody has tested restoring them
  • Setting up a new environment for testing or a new client takes days of manual work

Sometimes the honest answer is that a migration is not worth it yet, or that the application needs work first. An old monolith moved to the cloud unchanged often costs more there than it did on its own server. When that is the case we say so, and our legacy application modernization service can prepare the code before the move.

How we migrate your applications

Each migration gets its own plan, but the steps stay the same:

  1. Assessment. We map your applications, databases, integrations, data volumes and dependencies, and note what can and cannot be down, and when.
  2. Strategy per application. For each system we choose to move it as it is (rehost), adjust it to managed cloud services (replatform) or change the code to fit the cloud (refactor), and explain the trade-offs in plain terms.
  3. Target environment. We build the cloud accounts, networks, access rules and environments in Terraform, so they can be reviewed, repeated and rebuilt.
  4. Pilot. A low-risk application or a copy of production goes first, to test the process, the data transfer and the rollback.
  5. Migration and cutover. Applications move in planned windows, with data synchronised, the old system kept ready as a fallback and a checklist signed off before traffic switches.
  6. Hand-over. You get runbooks, architecture diagrams, monitoring dashboards and a walkthrough for your team.

DevOps consulting and DevOps as a service

Migration is only half of the result. The other half is how your team ships software afterwards. Our DevOps consulting covers the practices that make releases routine: a CI/CD pipeline that builds, tests and deploys every change the same way; infrastructure kept as code in the same repository as the application; containers so the software runs the same on a laptop, in staging and in production; and environments that can be created and removed on demand.

Some companies want this set up once, then run it themselves. For them we deliver the pipelines, the Terraform modules and the documentation, and train the team. Others prefer DevOps as a service: we keep running the pipelines, the infrastructure and the monitoring for you, apply updates and handle changes as your product grows. That ongoing work is part of our software maintenance and support service, so the same people who built the setup look after it.

AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and the tools we use

We work on all three major clouds and recommend one based on your existing licences, your team's experience, the managed services you need and where your customers are. For companies looking for AWS consulting services, Azure or Google Cloud help, the approach is the same; only the building blocks change. The tools we use most:

  • AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud for hosting, managed databases and storage
  • Terraform for infrastructure as code across providers
  • Docker for containers and Kubernetes where orchestration is worth the complexity
  • GitHub Actions, GitLab CI and Azure Pipelines for CI/CD
  • Prometheus, Grafana and each cloud's own monitoring for metrics, logs and alerts

Not every project needs Kubernetes. For a single web application, a managed container or app service is often simpler and cheaper to run, and we will tell you when that is the case.

Monitoring, backups and cloud costs

A cloud setup is finished when you know it is working and what it costs. We set up monitoring for the things that matter to your users (response times, error rates, failed jobs, disk and database health) and alerts that go to the right person through email, Slack or Teams, tuned so that an alert means something. Backups run on a schedule, are stored separately from production and are restored in a test at least once, so you know they work.

Cloud bills grow quietly. We tag resources by project and environment, set budget alerts, and review costs with you: idle servers, oversized databases, storage nobody reads and test environments left running at night. For SaaS products, where hosting costs grow with each customer, this review is part of our SaaS development work from the start.

Who we work with and how to start

Our cloud migration services suit companies that have outgrown their hosting: SMEs running core systems on a server in the office, SaaS companies preparing for more customers, fintech products that need clear audit trails and tested backups, and public institutions moving older systems to a managed platform. We also work with startups that want a clean setup from the start, so they never need a migration later.

Most engagements start with a fixed-scope assessment: we review your current setup and deliver a migration plan you can act on with us or with another team. From there you can choose a fixed-scope migration, or keep us on for DevOps as a service after the move. To plan a migration or a DevOps setup for your systems, contact us.

Frequently asked questions

What do cloud migration services include?

An assessment of your current applications and data, a migration plan per system, building the cloud environment as code, moving the applications and data, testing, and the cutover. Good migrations also include monitoring, backups, documentation and a hand-over, so your team can run what was built. Ours include all of these.

How long does a cloud migration take?

It depends on the number of applications, the volume of data, how much the code has to change and how much downtime the business can accept. A single web application moves much faster than a set of connected systems. After the assessment we give you a written plan with the timeline for each step.

How much do cloud migration services cost?

The cost depends on how many systems move, whether they are rehosted or changed to fit the cloud, and whether you want ongoing DevOps support afterwards. We start with a short call, review your current setup, then send a written proposal with the scope, the steps and the timeline.

Should we choose AWS, Azure or Google Cloud?

There is no single best cloud. Azure often suits companies already on Microsoft licences, AWS offers a very broad catalogue of managed services, and Google Cloud is a common choice for Kubernetes workloads. We recommend one based on your software, your team's skills, the services you need and the region your customers are in.

Will our application be down during the migration?

We plan every migration to keep downtime as short as possible, with data synchronised in advance, a tested rollback and the switch scheduled for a quiet period you choose. Some systems can move with almost no interruption; others need a short maintenance window. The plan states which applies to each system before work starts.

What is DevOps as a service?

DevOps as a service means an outside team runs your build and deployment pipelines, cloud infrastructure and monitoring for you, instead of you hiring DevOps engineers. You get the same practices, such as automated deployments, infrastructure as code and alerts, with the work handled by people who already know your setup.
